Nurses are an important part of delivering care in general practice. The practice nurses are responsible for a number of clinical areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management and prevention. They support the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure and have direct supervision of healthcare assistants. 

Duties undertaken by our practice nursing team include: 

• Obtaining blood samples
• Electrocardiograms (ECGs), spirometry and a range of other diagnostic tests
• Minor and complex wound management including leg ulcers
• Travel health advice and vaccinations
• Child and adult immunisations and advice
• Family planning & women’s health including cervical smears.
• Ear suctioning or syringing when appropriate
• Diabetes, asthma and other long term condition reviews.
